The relationship we have with our Elders is an important role in our governance and is inherently linked in our kinship. We value and respect the role of our Elders in the community, so Alexis is happy to announce the monthly Elders meeting we hold every last Monday of the month.
Mark your calendar for our 40th Annual Community Pow-wow Celebrations - July 14 -16 , 2017
Our annual pow-wow is a community celebration that fosters wellness, pride and self-esteem in our nation. It is one of the most highlighted events of the year and our people look forward to this celebration.
Public Relations Day was established to improve communication between the Chief and Band Members.
Purpose: The purpose of this forum is to connect Leadership and Band Members on a regular basis. Band Members can request information directly from the Chief of Alexis and also offer feedback to the leadership on community activities, new projects, band policies, programs and services (existing or new), employment and sponsorship opportunities, etc.
Band Staff Session: A positive way to communicate, share information and get instant feedback on relevant issues.
Treaty Talks: The intent of Treaty Talks is to facilitate discussion on the band’s inherent and existing Treaty Rights. Every month, we invite Knowledge Keepers and Special Guests to share their experiences and information.
“Treaties are living, international agreements, which remain valid today and continue to affirm our self-determination. We are and always have been original Nations that have never relinquished our title, rights, language, culture, and governance by way of Treaty to the British Crown or the successor state of Canada.”
FORMAT: Held Every Last Monday of the Month at the Band Hall.
